TOXIC MODESTY: DON’T DIM TO FIT IN

Updated: May 7, 2021

What does this mean? Is this something that you suffer from? Are you constantly trying to fit or blend in? Are you playing small so you don’t get judged or make other people uncomfortable? Do you use the word Humility to hide behind your greatness or constantly apologise & justify your behaviour?Do you have people on a pedestal & see yourself as less than?

I have suffered with this condition most of my life even when things were going really well.

I have shied away from too much positive attention & felt more comfortable with the negativity & criticism. I have dimmed my light so that other people felt safe. I have belittled some of my greatest gifts & doubted my magnificence.

I feel it plays a big part in Irish culture, “The who does she think she is” mindset,” How dare she be different & step outside the cultural box” so to speak!

Well not anymore, as my dear Mum used to say to me at the start of each day RISE & SHINE and that's exactly what I am doing. The sooner we can move out of judgement of each other & embrace our unique superpowers without apology the better.

When you come from an authentic place with in yourself by dimming your magic you are dishonoring yourself, this isn’t about being arrogant or thinking you are better than others , it’s about knowing & honoring your worth & thus giving other people the permission to do the same.

Wear the colourful clothes, get that tattoo, change jobs,do something that excites you, speak your authentic truth.

The universe is expanding & you are part of the Universe so expanding is part of your nature,

SHINE BRIGHT & DON’T DIM TO FIT IN!
